Sahale Peak Climb Overview
North Cascades National Park
- 2-day * Sahale Arm – $625
- 3-day * Quien Sabe Glacier – $825
- 5-day * Forbidden Peak & Sahale Peak – $1450 (advanced) 2:1 ratio
Sahale Peak stands at the head of Cascade Pass and the impressive Stehekin Valley. The climb presents a moderate challenge and is situated among other classic peaks such as Forbidden Peak, Sharkfin Tower and Boston Peak. NW Mountain Guides guided ascent climbs the steep Quien Sabe Glacier to the Boston Sahale Col and traverses the final exposed rock and snow ridge to the summit. The views from the summit are amazing with a 360 degree panorama of the Cascade Range. We have the option of descending the route or traversing the peak to Sahale Arm and Cascade Pass. On the approach we climb steeply through heavy timber crossing a number of streams which eventually give way to the beautiful alpine basin known as Boston Basin. The three day ascent provides adequate time to summit and our professional guides will introduce the basic mountaineering skills necessary to make the climb.
Sahale Peak from the Sahale Arm route via Cascade pass is an excellent alternate climb for beginner climbers. The route is much less technical and committing than the Quien Sabe Glacier approach. Our choice of route will depend on the skill level of the group. The Sahale Arm route also offers an exciting low 5th class rock scramble to the summit pyramid. Related climbs: Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan, Mount Olympus, Eldorado Peak
